Description

ROBERT E. “DUSTY” STAUB II

Founder and Chairman of EQIQ Leadership

I live in Kernersville, NC on an 83-acre farm with my wife, Christine, a family physician. We are the grateful parents of three young entrepreneurial adults, all happily launched out into the world at this point in time, as well as the grandparents of two delightful and wholehearted grandchildren. As I am now 73 years young, my passion is leaving a legacy of love, where people will say that I was a gift to the spirit. I am seeking, in the time that is left, to reach even more people with the concept of living a more wholehearted and courageous life. My TEDxTalk, all 4 of my books, 200+ articles, and 38 years of consulting work have been focused on helping people to recognize and step into the best version of themselves through a holistic approach to leading and living. I am a fellow in the School of Engineering at Virginia Tech, a Certified Forum Facilitator for the World President’s Organization, and have a Master-in-Clinical-Social-Work in Marital and Family Therapy from UNC Chapel Hill.

“Where your courage stops, is where your leadership stops. Where your courage stops, is where you stop.”

What started you on your professional journey?

The desire to help others. When I first went to University my aspiration was to be a biochemist and to help grow new nerve tissue for people with spinal cord injuries and new heart tissue for those suffering from problems with their heart. I discovered that I did not have the aptitude to be a great scientist but that I did have the ability to engage people and to help them through listening, connecting at the heart level, sharing stories and ultimately counseli,ng and coaching.

What is your favorite part of being a professional?

My favorite part of being a consultant, coach, counselor and trainer is seeing the light go on, the joy, when an individual or a team turns on to an empowering insight or skill methodology. Success stories shared with me even decades after the fact are very rewarding. I get the privilege of helping people become a better version of themselves with greater self-awareness, personal power and effectiveness at home and work.

What are some things you wish you had known when you started out in your career?

The most important thing I wish I had known when I first started out would be the simple fact that emotional intelligence (EQ) determines both successes as well as significance in life. I would have focused on that core concept much sooner.

What keeps you inspired?

What keeps me inspired are the success stories from clients. In addition, I am inspired because everyday I get to live my purpose in life and bring it forward in all that I do.

What is one important thing that people should know about you?

The key thing to know about me is that I live and work from my heart, inviting the engagement of the hearts and minds of family, friends, clients and communities. The heart is the integrative center for our age and desperately needs to be engaged and listened to, as our mind-driven ways of being are destroying health, family, and enterprises and even threatening human existence.
