Description

Through this course you will study the antigens that invade the body and their interaction with the produced immunoglobulins that are produced against them. You will know the different properties of the antigens and the factors influencing immunogenicity. You will understand the body’s defense against infection by studying the different types of immunity such as Natural Immunity (Innate Immunity) and Adaptive Immunity (Acquired Immunity). You will study the immune system and the function of primary lymphoid organs and secondary lymphoid organs in the immunity. You will understand the functions of different types of the immune cells such as Neutrophils, Eosinophils, Basophils, Monocytes, Macrophage, B lymphocytes, and T lymphocytes. You will know the structure of antibody, how are different antibodies produced, and the properties of each type of these antibodies. You will understand the main differences between the primary and secondary immune response against the pathogens. You will know the mechanisms of humoral immunity and the mechanisms of cell mediated immunity when the antigen enters your body. You will also know the three classes of major histocompatibility molecules and how they differ from each other. You will study some techniques for the detection of antigen-antibody reaction focusing on the primary binding tests. You will also understand the difference between immunodeficiency and autoimmunity syndromes.
